Generate your config

Pick one or more models and press Confirm. The config below is regenerated so every model you picked is ready to use. The first model you pick becomes the default. Context, output limits, and prices come from the model catalog.

Reasoning effort

The initial value is the model's default. Choose Tool default to leave it out of the config.

~/.continue/config.yaml
name: everyais
version: 1.0.0
schema: v1
models:
  - name: "DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017"
    provider: openai
    model: "everyais/deepseek-v4-1-flash-1017"
    apiBase: https://api.everyais.com/v1
    apiKey: ${{ secrets.EVERYAIS_API_KEY }}
    roles: [chat, edit, apply]
    capabilities: [tool_use, image_input]
    defaultCompletionOptions:
      contextLength: 1048000
    requestOptions:
      extraBodyProperties:
        reasoning_effort: "high"

If you already have models, paste only the entries under models. Agent mode is available only for models whose capabilities include tool_use.

~/.continue/.env
EVERYAIS_API_KEY=everyais_your_api_key

The VS Code and JetBrains extensions cannot read shell variables, so keep the key in this file.

Continue (the VS Code and JetBrains extension) registers models in config.yaml and lets you pick one in the chat panel.

Connect

  1. Create ~/.continue/.env and put the key in it, without quotes.

    bash
    EVERYAIS_API_KEY=everyais_your_api_key
  2. In "Generate your config" above, pick your models and press Confirm. Models for Agent mode must support tool calling, and those models get tool_use in capabilities. Models that support reasoning also get a "Reasoning effort" choice.

  3. Paste the result into ~/.continue/config.yaml. If you already have models, add only the entries under models:.

  4. Pick an everyais model from the model list in Continue's chat panel.

The VS Code and JetBrains extensions cannot read shell environment variables. A key set with export will not be seen, so keep it in a .env file.

Settings

KeyWhat it does
provider: openai · apiBaseSends requests to everyais through the OpenAI-compatible API. apiBase includes /v1
apiKey: ${{ secrets.EVERYAIS_API_KEY }}Reads the key from a .env file: the workspace .env, then .continue/.env, then ~/.continue/.env
rolesUses the model for chat (chat), code edits (edit), and applying changes (apply). The autocomplete (autocomplete) role is left out until it has been tested
capabilitiesTool calls (tool_use, needed for Agent mode) and image input (image_input). Set only on models that support them
defaultCompletionOptions.contextLength · maxTokensContext size and maximum output tokens. Left out when the catalog has no value
requestOptions.extraBodyProperties.reasoning_effortThe reasoning effort you chose, sent as-is in the request body
useResponsesApi: falseKeeps requests on Chat Completions. Added only for models whose name contains gpt-5 or later, such as gpt-6

Troubleshooting

SymptomWhat to check
401Check that ~/.continue/.env has the key and the variable is named EVERYAIS_API_KEY
The model cannot be picked in Agent modeCheck that the model has capabilities: [tool_use]
400 on a GPT modelContinue sends these models to /v1/responses. Check that the model entry has the useResponsesApi: false line the generator adds
404 model_not_foundCheck that model matches an everyais model ID
